Lipika Parui, (Kolkata)
Around 5 years back, Lipika Parui took birth at home in a village named Bamunghata in South 24 Pgs. of West Bengal. She is the second child among the 3 siblings in the family. Her elder brother is a year older than her and her sister is almost 2nad half years old. Lipika’s father, Sri. Lakhan Parui is a daily labour and mother, Smt. Kajoli Parui is a housewife.
The family shifted to Mundapara in the month of April’2011 in search of livelihood. They a rented a small kutcha house.
Lipika grew up with normal developmental milestones and never suffered any major illness. The child’s mother on 26th April’2011 came to the GIDF centre to know about the programme. She discussed about her family and requested for her daughter, Lipika’s enrollment. She told the educators that since both the parents were not literate, so she would like to enroll her child in the Early Childhood Development Programme so that her daughter can learn and get enrolled in the school in the next academic year.
Lipika was enrolled for the programme. She had been a very regular child in the centre, very shy and soft spoken. The child was very obedient. She always followed whatever was told to her. Though the child was introvert, yet she participated in all the activities very sincerely and this quality was noticed in her from the very beginning. The child never had any quarrel with any other child in the center. She would quietly sit in a corner and follow the lessons. Her craft works were very clear.
Lipika was targeted for mainstreaming in the formal school for 2012. Her mother regularly took feedback from the educator. She was shy and quiet at home also. At home, she did not have anybody to guide her in learning, so her mother stressed that she was learning only from the time spent in the GIDF centre. Her mother also felt that the weekly activities should be curtailed and more time should be devoted for lesson learning. Lipika’s mother was shown the TLMs and explained the purpose of the weekly activities.
Lipika has been mainstreamed in the Nazirabad Primary school in Std. – I in the month of January’12. We wish her all the best for her future and hope that she turns out to be a good pupil.
