Sensitizing masses on the World Aids Day

Commemorating the World Aids Day on December 01, GIDF organized several sensitization activities for raising HIV/AIDS awareness (in association with UNICEF/MPSAC and GAIL) in the premises of GAIL, Agra-Mumbai Highway-NH-III, National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) gate and various Government Schools and Hot- Spots.

With the support of 400 school students, a rally aimed at increasing knowledge and awareness about HIV/AIDS was organized by the GIDF team in Madhya Pradesh. Students wholeheartedly participated in the rally and held banners with messages aimed at sensitizing general masses. The children also pledged to share the message of HIV/AIDS awareness with their friends and family.

GIDF further organized two medical camps especially for Truckers at two high-risk locations wherein the medical team tested 789 truckers of which 98 were diagnosed with STI’s. These people were provided with syndromic medication by STI kits. Moreover, sessions on proper usage of condom were held and around 5,000 condoms were distributed to promote safe sex practices among the high risk groups .

In addition Drawing and Essay writing competitions were held in four government schools with HIV/AIDS as the theme. Two street plays were also performed explaining people about the dangers of unprotected sex.

Empowering Rural Youth with e-Education

In Ruthiyae and Dharnawda villages of District Guna in Madhya Pradesh, six batches have been formed of rural youth for whom 80 classes imparting theoretical and practical computer knowledge have been conducted. This activity is a part of GIDF’s E-Shiksha programme that provides computer education to the rural children to upscale their IT skills and brings them at par with their urban counterparts for bettering their career opportunities.
Joyous Festivities during Christmas Celebrations

Children in almost all GIDF centers celebrated Christmas with great joy and excitement. While in the Delhi centre, the children dressed as Santa Claus and partied as last year, the children in the village Gavri of Madhya Pradesh were introduced to the joyous festival for the first time. As it was observed that majority of children in the village were aware of Hindi, Muslim and Sikh festivals only, a special attempt was made to expose them to a Christian Festival. The children were told about the essence of the festival to help them develop unity, respect and bonding between diverse religions and love for humanity.
