SGSY

The special SGSY project entails sourcing meaningful vocations for below poverty level youth, through local need assessment by industry visits and then connecting local youth with the opportunities available in the region. The initiative concentrates on the marginalized sections like women, SC/ST population and minorities.

For community mobilization, besides setting up training centres in prominent neighbourhoods, team GIDF conducts concerted awareness drives in the target region. This includes regular meetings with stakeholders as well as advertisements through distribution of pamphlets, banners in vantage locations, news paper advertisements and wall paintings. Course structuring and selection happen under the guidance of government agencies like the District Rural Development Agencies.

The youth are selected as per the criteria mentioned in the course modules of the National Certificate for Vocational Training. With well equipped classrooms, practical exposure, dedicated trainers and a streamlined study module – our students have already started making their mark by landing jobs in prime companies.

The project is currently being executed in 4 states of India, namely :

•  Assam - District Dibrugarh & Tinsukia.
• Uttar Pradesh - District Agra, Jhansi,    Rae Bareilly & Sultanpur.
•  Rajasthan - District Jaipur & Jodhpur.
• Madhya Pradesh - District Sagar &    Raisen.

SJSRY

Under the Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rojgar Yojana (SJSRY), GIDF empowers underprivileged urban youth by training them in a multitude of vocational skills. In Bhopal, the emphasis is on identifying and imparting training in market-driven courses to enable them find a place in entry level opportunities in various industrial sectors.

The target here is to match local industry requirements with skill-set building of youth in the same locality. Yet another core aim of the project is empowerment of women, including formation of Women’s Groups for small enterprises and Women’s Thrift-cum-Credit Societies.

The training, in three or four different courses in each specified centre, is provided absolutely free of cost. The batches are small – of around 30-35 students including girls. The project is being implemented in association with the Department of Urban Development of Bhopal.
